Community Alert: BPD Seek Public’s Help in Effort to Identify Two People of Interest in Connection to Death Investigation in the area of 180 Ruggles Street in Roxbury

The Boston Police Department is releasing two images (see enclosed) and requesting the public’s assistance in identifying the individuals pictured in relation to an ongoing homicide investigation in the area of 180 Ruggles Street in Roxbury which occurred on April 21, 2017. The information being requested is for identification purposes only.

At about 8:53pm, on Friday, April 21, 2017, officers from District B-2 (Roxbury) responded to a call for a person shot in the area of 180 Ruggles Street in Roxbury. On arrival, officers located a male in his late teens suffering from what appeared to be multiple gunshot wounds. The victim, later identified as 17-year-old Yanuel Viloria, was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Eight days after the incident, on April 29, 2017, BPD Homicide Detectives arrested and charged two individuals, a 19-year-old male from Boston and a 18-year-old male from Waltham, for Murder in the shooting death of Yanuel Viloria. Both were arraigned in Roxbury District Court on Monday, May 1, 2017.

Despite the arrests, the Boston Police Department continues to actively review the facts and circumstances surrounding this incident. Anyone with information relative to the identities of the individuals pictured is asked to call the Boston Police Homicide Unit at (617) 343-4470.
