Daily Dose of Great Police Work: Cadet Gives Ride to Nun Waiting Along Cancelled Bus Route

Boston Police Cadet Joe Houtmeyers and Sister Mary Henrietta Domingo of the Congregation of the Sisters of the Eucharistic Heart of Jesus came to meet by complete happenstance (or maybe in a case of divine intervention!) this past Sunday, May 21, 2017, courtesy of the 17th Annual Haitian-American Unity Parade and cancelled bus service along the parade route.

While driving the lead car in the parade, Cadet Houtmeyers noticed Sister Mary sitting at a bus stop. Knowing the bus service had been cancelled due to the parade, Cadet Houtmeyers informed Sister Mary that if she needed a ride but wasn't in a hurry, he could get her to her destination or the closest available bus stop at the end of the parade. As you can see by the photo, Sister Mary was more than happy to take Cadet Houtmeyers up on his offer, and according to Joe, she thoroughly enjoyed her front seat ride inside a Boston Police cruiser. Of course, as we all know, there’s a special place in Heaven for police officers everywhere, and given the kindness shown to Sister Mary, it would appear Cadet Houtmeyers has already started laying the groundwork.
