At about 8:38 PM on Friday, May 5, 2017, officers assigned to District C-6 (South Boston) responded to a call for a person with a gun in the area of 141 Dorchester Avenue in South Boston. On arrival, the officers made entry to the building and observed a male suspect armed with a firearm. Upon seeing the officers, the suspect immediately began firing at the officers, causing them to return fire. During the exchange, the suspect was struck by the officers and after a violent struggle, placed in custody and transported to an area hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. No police officers were struck by gun fire but several were transported to area hospitals for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. A subsequent protective sweep of the location by members of the BPD SWAT Team led to the discovery of two adult victims, a male and a female, believed to be in their 40’s, suffering from traumatic injuries who were pronounced deceased on scene.
Multiple charges will be finalized and sought against the suspect in South Boston District Court. This incident will be further investigated by the BPD Homicide Unit, Fire Arms Discharge Investigation Team and the Suffolk County District Attorney's Office. The investigation remains active and updated information will be provided when possible.
