One Less Gun: Investigation Leads to Recovery of Firearm and Arrest of Suspect in Aggravated Assault

At about 1:45 PM on Monday, June 12, 2017, District B-3 (Mattapan) detectives with members of the Youth Violence Strike Force arrested a suspect relative to an armed aggravated assault that took place on June 7, 2017 in the area of 111 Erie Street (The Erie Street Market).

After an investigation into the incident, detectives obtained an arrest warrant for the suspect, 19-year-old Malik Antonio Knight of Dorchester. Officers placed Knight under arrest and charged him with Assault by Means of a Dangerous Weapon (Gun). During the subsequent execution of a search warrant for his residence, officers recovered a loaded black Buck Marc .22 caliber long rifle with a gold trigger hidden in the drop ceiling. Knight was additionally charged with Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, Unlawfully Carrying a Loaded Firearm, Possession of a Large Capacity Feeding Device, Unlawful Possession of a Firearm (2nd & Subsequent Offense), Improper Storage of a Firearm, and Improper Storage of a Firearm where Person Under 18 has Access.
