INCIDENT #1: At about 6:40 PM on Friday June 23, 2017, officers assigned to the Youth Violence Strike Force made an onsite firearm arrest in the area of 241 Maverick Street in East Boston. Based upon information from an ongoing investigation, officers were aware that Alfredo Andrade-Ascencio, 23, of East Boston, was in possession of an illegal firearm. Officers were able to locate the suspect and place him in custody without incident at which time they safely recovered a loaded 9mm Luger Model C9 handgun from inside a back pack that the suspect had been carrying at the time. The suspect will appear in East Boston District Court on charges of Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition and Carrying a Loaded Firearm.
INCIDENT #2: At about 1:40 AM on Saturday June 24, 2017, officers assigned to the Youth Violence Strike Force arrested two suspects and recovered two loaded firearms after performing a traffic stop in the area of 106 Geneva Avenue in Dorchester. The officers were on routine patrol when they stopped a motor vehicle for a traffic infraction. As the officers were approaching the vehicle, they observed the driver, later identified as Kelvin Jones, 22, of Dorchester, and passenger, Antauwn James, 26, of Roxbury, attempting to quickly hide an unknown object in the glove compartment. Officers removed both parties and performed a pat frisk of the vehicle which led to the recovery of two loaded firearms from inside the glove compartment. The weapons were later found to be a 9mm Smith & Wesson Model SD9VE handgun and a .40 caliber Glock Model 23 handgun with a high capacity magazine. Both suspects were quickly placed in custody and will appear in Dorchester District Court for arraignment. Kelvin Jones will be charged with Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, Carrying a Loaded Firearm and Possession of a Large Capacity Feeding Device. Antauwn James will be charged with Unlawful Possession of a Firearm (2nd & Subsequent), Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, Carrying a Loaded Firearm, Possession of a Large Capacity Feeding Device and Armed Career Criminal, Level 1.
