Said Commissioner William Evans, “I want to commend my investigators for all of their hard work and long hours put into making this arrest. I also want to thank all the community members who provided help and made calls to our anonymous tip line. Nobody has the right to take the life of another in our city, and, when that happens, my officers never rest or stop searching until the person responsible is in police custody. To the family of Javoni Boyd, it is my sincere hope that the news of this arrest will bring with it some small level of closure and comfort.”
