About a week ago, at about 4:14 am on Saturday, May 27, 2017, officers from District E-5 (West Roxbury) responded to a call for a commercial alarm and breaking and entering in progress at 1675 VFW Pkwy (Town Fair Tire) in West Roxbury. On arrival, officers discovered damage to the store’s front door and two white male suspects still inside the store. As officers began to move in to make the arrest, the two suspects attempted to make good their escape by running out a back door and into a nearby swamp. BPD K-9 officers were called to the scene and, in short time, BPD K-9 Duke (seen in photo) promptly picked up the scent of one of the suspects, a 28-year-old male from Boston, who was found hiding in knee deep water about 100 yards into the swamp. To all of our of K-9 Officers and their trusted, furry, four-legged, sidekicks we say, “Thanks for keeping Boston safe.”
