UPDATE: Suspect in Custody Less Than 72 Hours After Non-Fatal Double Shooting in Dorchester; Officers Recover High-Capacity Weapons during Search

At about 11:34 AM on Monday, June 5, 2017, officers assigned to the Youth Violence Strike Force and detectives assigned to District B-3 (Mattapan) made an onsite arrest in the area of 179 Woodrow Street in Dorchester. Officers were able to locate and arrest Kevin Willis, 27, of Dorchester, without incident after an investigation into a double shooting that occurred at about 6:00 PM on Friday June 2, 2017, in the area of 228 Westview Street in Dorchester. During that incident, two adult male victims were located suffering from non-life-threatening gunshot wounds and transported to an area hospital for treatment. The suspect will appear in Dorchester District Court on charges of Assault with Intent to Murder (2 Counts), Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition and Discharging a Firearm within 500 Feet of Dwelling.

Following the arrest, officers obtained a search warrant for Willis' residence in Mattapan and upon executing that warrant, seized an Intertec Tec-9 firearm with two 30-round magazines and a loaded Llama .45 caliber firearm. Willis will be charged for the possession of the additional illegal firearms when he is arraigned today (Tuesday, June 6, 2017) in Dorchester District Court.
