One Less Gun: Citywide Drug Control Unit Seizes Two Firearms during Search Warrant in Roxbury

At about 4:45 AM today, Thursday, June 8, 2017, members of the Citywide Drug Control Unit, with the assistance of BPD SWAT, executed two search warrants in the area of 96 Blue Hill Avenue in District B-2 (Roxbury).

Upon entering the residence, officers located the target of the search warrant, 18-year-old Anthony Soto of Roxbury, as well as 22-year-old Rafael Pena of Roxbury. The execution of the warrants resulted in the seizure of a loaded Ruger 9 mm handgun and a loaded Rock Island Armory .45 caliber handgun. Also seized during the warrant were additional ammunition, two plastic bags of marijuana, one plastic bag of crack cocaine, and approximately $2650.00 in US currency.

Both Soto and Pena were arrested and charged with Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, and Unlawful Possession of a High Capacity Feeding Device. Soto was also charged with Possession of Class B Drugs; Pena was additionally charged with Possession with Intent to Distribute Class D Drugs. Both will be arraigned today in Roxbury District Court.
