UPDATE: BPD Fugitive Apprehension Unit Arrests Suspect Wanted in Connection with 2016 Homicide

Today, Wednesday, July 12, 2017, members of the Boston Police Fugitive Apprehension Unit located and arrested 25-year-old Calvin Boykins of Roxbury in relation to the 2016 shooting death of 22-year-old Marquis Waithe. Officers arrested Boykins on an active warrant out of Suffolk Superior Court for Murder, three counts of Assault by Means of a Dangerous Weapon, and firearm related charges. Also being charged for Waithe’s murder is 24-year-old Jonathon Aquavivas of Brighton, who was already in custody on an unrelated homicide charge.

The facts of the incident are as follows: At about 5:46 PM on Thursday, February 4, 2016, officers from District B-2 (Roxbury) responded to a call for a person shot in the area of 55 Brookledge Street. Upon arrival, officers located 22-year-old Marquis Waithe of Roxbury suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. Waithe was transported to an area hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased.

Said Boston Police Commissioner William Evans, “My heart goes out to the family of the victim, and I want them—and all the families of victims of homicides—to know that their loved one is never forgotten. My homicide detectives and the prosecutors assigned to the District Attorney’s office work tirelessly to bring justice for each and every victim, and we hope this development will send the message that we never give up seeking justice.”
