One Less Gun: YVSF Officers Recover Two Illegal Firearms in Two Separate Investigations

Yesterday, Friday, August 11, 2017, members of the Youth Violence Strike Force conducted two motor vehicle stops as part of two separate ongoing investigations. As a result of the first stop at approximately 6:10 PM in the area of 382 Norfolk Street, officers recovered a loaded black and army green Smith & Wesson MP9 Shield 9mm firearm with a high capacity feeding device from the person of 22-year-old Herby Paul of Mattapan. Paul was arrested and charged with Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, Unlawfully Carrying a Loaded Firearm, and Resisting Arrest.

As a result of the second stop that took place at about 10:40 PM in the area of 202 Southern Avenue, officers recovered a loaded black Glock 30 .45 caliber firearm with a high capacity feeding device. The operator of the vehicle, identified as 23-year-old Kori A. Kelley of Roxbury, was charged with firearm-related offenses, as well as issued a citation for violations of the auto laws. Kelley will be arraigned on Monday, August 14, 2017 in Dorchester District Court.
