INCIDENT #1: At about 6:32 PM on Friday, August 25, 2017, officers assigned to the Youth Violence Strike Force made an onsite firearm arrest after performing a traffic stop in the area of the Massachusetts Avenue Connector and Frontage Road in Boston. Officers stopped a motor vehicle for a traffic infraction when they learned that the operator, Keegan McKinney, 44, of Lawrence, did not possess a valid driver’s license. As officers started to remove the suspect to place him in custody, they observed that a female passenger, later identified as Leela Cable, 21, of Manchester, NH, suddenly attempted to conceal an unknown object on the floor of the car. Officers removed the passenger and safely recovered a loaded .45 caliber Hi-Point ACP firearm at which time she was placed in custody without incident. Both suspects will appear in Roxbury District Court for arraignment. Keegan McKinney will be charged with Operating a Motor Vehicle After Revocation or Suspension while Leela Cable will be charged with Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition and Carrying a Loaded Firearm.
INCIDENT #2: At about 11:00 PM on Friday, August 25, 2017, officers assigned to the Youth Violence Strike Force made an onsite firearm arrest as part of a gang related investigation in the area of William Day Boulevard and East Broadway Street in South Boston. Officers were aware that Lee Harvey, 25, of Brockton, was in possession of a firearm in addition to having an outstanding warrant out of Framingham District Court for a motor vehicle related offense. Officers located the suspect and placed him in custody without incident at which time they recovered a loaded 9mm Sig Sauer P290RS handgun which the suspect had attempted to hide in a nearby vehicle as the officers were approaching. In addition to answering to his warrant for Operating a Motor Vehicle After Revocation or Suspension, the suspect will appear in South Boston District Court on charges of Unlawful Possession of a Firearm and Unlawful Possession of Ammunition.
