One Less Gun: District B-2 Officers Recover Loaded Firearm in Roxbury

At about 11:10 PM on Wednesday, August 30, 2017, officers from District B-2 (Roxbury) were on patrol in the Ruggles Street Housing Development due to recent firearm activity in the area. Officers observed a group known to them sitting on a bench near 190 Ruggles Street. Officers observed one of the males, later identified as 27-year-old Pedro Gomez of Roxbury, with an open container of alcohol in between his feet and advised him he was under arrest for drinking in public. During a search of Gomez, officers recovered a loaded firearm from the waistband of his pants, as well as loose pills found to be Xanax and Percocet. Officers arrested Gomez and charged him with Drinking in Public, Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, Unlawfully Carrying a Loaded Firearm, Possession of Class B Drugs, and Possession of Class C Drugs. The remaining individuals in the group were identified and released.
