BPD Officers Arrest Suspect Wanted in Connection to Non-Fatal Shooting in Mattapan


At about 10:26 PM on Thursday July 13, 2017, officers assigned to District B-3 (Mattapan) responded to a call for a person shot in the area of Baird Street in Mattapan. On arrival, officers located an adult male victim suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. The victim stated that he was sitting on his porch when he heard the sound of gunfire and was struck. The victim was transported to an area hospital for treatment of injuries which were not considered life-threatening.

After a thorough investigation, officers learned the identity of the suspect and later executed a search warrant which led to the recovery of a loaded .40 caliber Taurus handgun. At about 9:20 PM on Thursday August 31, 2017, officers assigned to the Youth Violence Strike Force located and arrested Eric Hines, 25, of Roslindale, in the area of Francis Parkman Drive in Jamaica Plain on an outstanding warrant issued out of Dorchester District Court for Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition and Carrying a Loaded Firearm.
