FIREARM SEIZED DURING INCIDENT #1

INCIDENT #1: At about 6:00 PM on Thursday January 18, 2018, officers assigned to District B-2 (Roxbury) arrested a 15-year-old male suspect armed with a loaded handgun in the area of Townsend Street and Walnut Avenue in Roxbury. The officers were in the area as part of an investigation when they approached a group of three juvenile males as they exited Horatio Harris Park. When the officers approached the males, two of them immediately raised their hands above their heads without being prompted to do so while the third male began to look around nervously as he started to back away from the officers. One of the officers performed a pat frisk of the juvenile suspect at which time he immediately felt the handle of a gun sticking out of the waistband of the suspect’s pants. Officers placed the suspect in custody without incident and safely recovered a loaded 9mm Smith & Wesson M&P Shield. Officers later observed that the serial number on the firearm had been removed. The other two individuals were identified and released from the scene. The suspect will appear for arraignment in Roxbury Juvenile Court on charges of Delinquent to Wit: Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, Carrying a Loaded Firearm and Possession of a Firearm with an Obliterated Serial Number.

INCIDENT #2: At about 7:10 PM on Thursday January 18, 2018, officers assigned to District A-1 (Downtown) arrested two suspects on firearm related charges after performing a traffic stop in the area of Harrison Avenue and Herald Street in Boston. The officers were on directed patrol in the area when they stopped a vehicle for a traffic infraction. As the officers were speaking with the operator, Tedros Hische, 29, of Boston, and passenger, James Kearse, 27, of Dorchester, they noted that both men appeared to be nervous and were being purposefully evasive while answering questions. The officers removed both parties after the operator failed to produce any form of identification at which time they performed a pat frisk of the vehicle which led to the recovery of a loaded .40 caliber Glock 27 from in between the two front seats. Both suspects were placed in custody without incident and will appear in Boston Municipal Court on numerous charges including Unlawful Possession of a Firearm (2nd and Subsequent) and Carrying a Loaded Firearm (2nd and Subsequent) and Unlawful Possession of Ammunition.
