UPDATE: Boston City Residents Turn in 43 Firearms during One-Day Gun Buyback Program

Today, Saturday, December 15, 2018, Mayor Martin J. Walsh and Police Commissioner William G. Gross, joined physicians and medical professionals in coordinating a one-day gun buyback in the City of Boston.

The Boston buyback opened six drop-off locations across the city at 10:00 AM where city residents could receive a $100 Target gift card funded by Mass General Hospital for Children and the Massachusetts General Physicians Organization, in return for the surrender of a handgun. When the program ended at 4:00 PM, a total of 43 firearms and 11 replica firearms had been turned in anonymously in one day to the Boston Police Department.
