One Less Gun: Two Suspects in Custody After BPD Officers Recover Loaded Firearm During Traffic Stop in Roxbury

One Less Gun: At about 6:35 PM on Monday December 3, 2018, officers assigned to District B-2 (Roxbury) arrested two suspects after recovering a loaded firearm during a traffic stop in the area of 2201 Washington Street in Roxbury. Officers were on directed patrol near the Whittier Street Housing Development when they observed a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed on Ruggles Street heading towards Shawmut Avenue. Officers performed a traffic stop at which time they learned that the driver, Hasan Taft, 22, of Mattapan, was operating with a suspended license. Officers removed the operator and the front seat passenger, Kris Porter-Elder, 21, of Roxbury, at which time they recovered a loaded .40 caliber Ruger SR40 handgun from inside the vehicle. Officers then placed both suspects in custody without incident. Both suspects will be arraigned in Roxbury District Court on charges of Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition and Carrying a Loaded Firearm. Additionally, Taft will be charged with Operating a Motor Vehicle After Revocation or Suspension.
