Keeping Boston Safe: BPD Officers Chase Down and Apprehend Gun-Toting Suspect Dealing Drugs near Downtown Crossing

At about 12:40pm on Wednesday, February 14, 2018, officers from District A-1 (Downtown), acting on several community complaints relative to street-level drug activity, were on patrol in the area of Temple Place and Tremont Street when they observed what appeared to be a drug transaction between three individuals standing in the doorway of a vacant store front in area of 144 Tremont Street. In light of their observations, officers stopped their cruiser and approached the trio. As officers got closer to the group, they recognized one of the individuals from previous encounters. Upon seeing the approaching officers, the individual in question took off running. After a brief foot chase, officers were able to catch up to and subdue the suspect in the area of 55 Temple Place. A pat frisk of the suspect enabled officers to locate and confiscate a silver-colored revolver (see photo) and several rounds of ammunition found on the suspect’s person. A further search allowed officers to find and recover over 60 small plastic bags of marijuana.

Officers arrested Charles Wisteguens, 18, of Quincy and charged him with the Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, Possession Class of a Class D Drug with Intent to Distribute and Resisting Arrest.
