One Less Gun: Suspect in Custody and Loaded Firearm Recovered After Vehicle Flees Traffic Stop in Dorchester

At about 10:22 PM on Saturday, March 24, 2018, officers assigned to the Youth Violence Strike Force arrested a suspect on firearm related charges after performing a traffic stop in the area of Adams Street and Winter Street in Dorchester. The officers had stopped a vehicle for an equipment violation and were speaking with the operator, later identified as Ezekiel Washington, 20, of Dorchester, when he suddenly sped off. The officers soon located the suspect vehicle, parked and unoccupied further down Adams Street near Robinson Street. Officers later checked the vehicle and safely recovered a loaded 9mm Kel Tec Model PF-9 handgun from underneath the driver’s seat. Additional responding units set a perimeter and located the suspect inside Ronan Park at which time he was placed in custody without further incident. The suspect will appear in Dorchester District Court on multiple charges including Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, Carrying a Loaded Firearm and Failure to Stop for a Police Officer.
