At about 10:15 AM on Wednesday, April 11, 2018, officers assigned to District E-5 (West Roxbury) placed a suspect in custody after responding to a call for a residential breaking and entering in the area of 55 Brown Avenue in Roslindale. While on approach to the scene, an officer observed a person matching the given suspect description, later identified as Marvin Dumay, 30, of Hyde Park, walking in the area of 75 Seymour Street. When the officer attempted to speak with the individual, he fled on foot while discarding several items on the ground. These items were later recovered and determined to be property stolen during the initial incident. The officer followed the suspect over a six-foot fence and through several backyards while broadcasting relevant information to additional responding units. The suspect then broke into the rear bulkhead of a home located at 61 Cliffmont Street at which time the officers set a perimeter and called for a BPD K-9 Unit. An officer soon arrived on scene with K-9 ‘Simeon’ who soon located the suspect hiding in the basement of the home at which time he was placed in custody without further incident. The suspect will appear in West Roxbury District Court on charges of Breaking and Entering (2 Counts).
