At about 12:40 PM on Saturday, April 14, 2018, members of the District B-3 (Mattapan) Neighborhood Drug Control Unit arrested 48-year-old Howard Robinson of Mattapan after a month-long drug investigation. As a result of the investigation, officers learned that Robinson was distributing large quantities of marijuana in the Mattapan and Dorchester areas. They also found that Robinson was also operating on a suspended driver’s license.
On the above date, officers observed Robinson driving a motor vehicle in the area of Armandine Street. During surveillance, they observed what they believed to be a drug transaction. Officers conducted a stop of the vehicle and placed Robinson under arrest. As a result of the stop and arrest, officers also recovered a loaded .45 caliber Glock Model 30 pistol, multiple bags of marijuana weighing a total of approximately four pounds, over $7,000 in US currency, and two cell phones. Officers charged Robinson with Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of a Firearm (2nd & Subsequent Offense), Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, Unlawfully Carrying a Loaded Firearm, Operating after License Suspended,Distribution of Class D Drugs (Marijuana), and Possession with Intent to Distribute Class D Drugs.
Officers then used keys found on Robinson’s person to gain access to a residence in the area of 52 Selden Street. Upon entering, officers observed in plain view evidence of illegal distribution of drugs, froze the residence, and returned with a search warrant. Execution of the search warrant allowed officers to seize the following:
- One loaded Springfield Arms .40 caliber pistol
- 158 rounds of additional ammunition
- Over 40 pounds of marijuana
- Over $19,500 in US currency
- Scales, packaging, and other paraphernalia consistent with the illegal sale of marijuana
Officers will seek additional charges against Robinson for Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, and Possession with Intent to Distribute Class D Drugs.
