At about 9:35 PM on Sunday, April 22, 2018, officers from District C-11 (Dorchester) and an officer assigned to a paid detail made an on-site firearm arrest in the area of 185 Columbia Road.
While on patrol and traveling in-bound on Columbia Road, officers observed a group of males near the corner of Geneva Avenue and Columbia Road. Officers observed one of the males in a crouching position peeking around the corner near an MBTA bus stop. The male was wearing a white t-shirt that appeared to be spattered in blood and was in possession of what appeared to be a black pistol in his left hand.
Officers exited their marked cruiser and approached the suspect demanding to see his hands. The suspect complied with the officers’ commands and was handcuffed for officer safety. Officers canvassed the immediate area and located a black firearm in a trash barrel which was directly next to the MBTA bus stop where the suspect was standing.
Officers arrested the suspect, identified as 45-year-old Kenneth Malone of Dorchester, and charged with Unlawful Possession of a Firearm and Unlawful Possession of ammunition. Malone will be arraigned in Dorchester District Court.
