One Less Gun: Officers Arrest Suspect on Outstanding Warrant and Recover Loaded Firearm During Traffic Stop

At about 10:36 PM on Thursday, May 10, 2018, members of the City-Wide Drug Control Unit, District B-2 (Roxbury) Neighborhood Drug Control Unit, and the Youth Violent Strike Force made an onsite firearm arrest in the area of Alexander and Bird Streets in Dorchester.

Officers patrolling the area of Columbia Road were aware of an individual, identified as 56-year-old Anthony Goforth of Brockton, who had two outstanding warrants out of South Boston District Court for Breaking and Entering into a Motor Vehicle and Possession with Intent to Distribute Class A Drugs.

Officers observed Goforth enter a motor vehicle in which the license plates attached to the car were cancelled and not associated with the vehicle. Officers conducted a stop of the vehicle in the area of Alexander Street and Bird Street in Dorchester and placed Goforth under arrest by virtue of the outstanding warrants. Officers then conducted a search of the vehicle and recovered a black .45 caliber Hi-Point firearm (see photo).

Goforth was additionally charged with Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, and Unlawfully Carrying a Loaded Firearm. He will be arraigned in Dorchester District Court.
