One Less Gun: A Concerned Citizen Doing Yard Work Helps Officers Recover Firearm

Spring has sprung, and although the sun hasn’t brought much heat, a little yard work goes a long way and helps get one more gun off our streets.

At about 2:10 PM on Saturday, May 05, 2018, officers assigned to District B-3 (Mattapan), responded to a radio call in the area of Mattapan Street and Fottler Road for a firearm found in a backyard. A Mattapan citizen was in his backyard cleaning and getting ready to mow the lawn, when he found what appeared to be a silver firearm. Upon arrival, officers observed the silver Cobra Enterprises CA .380 Pistol on the ground in the backyard. Detectives from District B-3 responded to the scene and took custody of the firearm.

To the citizen who prevented a dangerous weapon from falling into the wrong hands, we commend you and say thank you!
