One Less Gun: BPD Youth Violence Strike Force Arrest Three Suspects, Including Two Teenagers, While Recovering Loaded Firearm During Investigation in Jamaica Plain

At about 2:10 PM on Saturday, May 5, 2018, officers assigned to the Youth Violence Strike Force arrested three individuals on multiple charges while recovering a loaded firearm in the area of 277 Centre Street in Jamaica Plain. The officers arrested, Aryana Wilson, 18, of Dorchester, without incident after recovering a loaded .45 caliber Springfield Armory XD-S handgun during an investigation. When the officers attempted to arrest a second suspect, later identified as a 17-year-old male from Brockton, he quickly took off running through the Bromley Heath Housing Development. Additional responding units from both the BPD and the Boston Housing Authority Police were able to place the juvenile suspect in custody after a brief pursuit. Officers also arrested Anthony Upchurch, 34, of Brockton, who had physically assaulted two of the officers and actively interfered with them as they attempted to place the juvenile male in custody. Both adult suspects will be arraigned in Roxbury District Court. Aryana Wilson will be charged with Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, Carrying a Loaded Firearm and Unlicensed Operation of a Motor Vehicle. Anthony Upchurch will be charged with two counts of Assault and Battery on a Police Officer and Resisting Arrest. The 17-year-old male will appear in Roxbury Juvenile Court where he will be charged with Delinquent to Wit: Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition and Resisting Arrest.
