BPD Officers Arrest Suspect Wanted in Connection to Double Non-Fatal Stabbing in Downtown Boston

About 2:32 AM on Friday, June 1, 2018, officers assigned to District A-1 (Downtown) responded to a call for a person stabbed in the area of 200 State Street, Boston. Upon arrival, officers observed two male victims suffering from what appeared to be non-life-threatening injuries. Both male victims were transported to local area hospitals for treatment.

Officers viewed surveillance video from a nearby business where the incident took place. On the video the officers observe the suspect, later identified as Jay Leffel, 23, of East Boston, physically assaulting one of the victims, which incites a fight among the group. Leffel then took out a knife and stabbed both victims before fleeing on foot towards Chatham Street. Officers broadcasted a description of Leffel who was apprehended by officers a short time later at the corner of Summer Street and Arch Street, Boston.

Leffel was arrested and charged with Assault with Intent to Murder. He will be arraigned in Boston Municipal Court.
