BPD in the Community: Officers Play Hoops with South Boston Kids at Condon Community Center

Last night, Wednesday, June 6, 2018, officers from the Boston Police Department played basketball against the kids from the Condon Community Center in South Boston. BPD only won by one point, and the kids certainly didn’t make it easy for the officers’ team, comprised of men and women from District C-6 (South Boston), the Youth Violence Strike Force, the Drug Control Unit, and District D-14 (Brighton)! The BPD especially wanted to thank Mr. Bill Stoddard from the Boston Police Activities/Athletics League (PAL) and Officer Gino Provenzano from the Bureau of Field Services for making this game possible.

Said Deputy Superintendent Nora Baston, “This is so much more than basketball. It’s about starting new relationships between the police and community youth. We’re looking forward to having monthly games here in Southie so we can get to know each other better. The kids have already challenged us to a rematch!”
