Keeping Boston Safe: Officers from District E-13 Hand Out 200 Free Bright-Yellow Bike Vests to Bikers in Jamaica Plain

Keeping Boston Safe: In an effort keep bicyclists safe, while simultaneously underscoring the importance of being visible when riding around the city, officers from District E-13 (Jamaica Plain) including Captain John Greland handed out 200 free bright-yellow bike vests to bikers traveling along the bike path in the area of Centre and Lamartine Streets in Jamaica Plain earlier this evening, Thursday, August 9, 2018. Said Officer Mike Santry, “Our job as police officers is to keep people safe. And, there’s no question visibility plays an important role in achieving that goal. So, the decision to hand out the free bike vests to those who ride bikes in our city was an easy decision to make.” As for the vests themselves, the officers tell us that they were generously donated by a local business leader who requested anonymity. Once again, highlighting the fact that together we make our city safer.
