BPD Fugitive Unit Arrests Murder Suspect Wanted for 2014 Homicide

Almost four years after the stabbing death of George Sanchez in Dorchester, the individual responsible for the murder is behind bars and in Boston Police custody.

At about 2:45 PM, on Wednesday, September 12, 2018, officers assigned to the Fugitive Unit took custody of Freidy Baez, 30, of Boston. Baez, who was was extradited from Santo Domingo in the Dominican Republic to Boston, was wanted on an outstanding warrant for the 2014 Murder of George Sanchez.

Baez is expected to be arraigned in Suffolk Superior Court.

The facts and circumstances surrounding the original incident are as follows: At about 12:04AM. on Sunday, September 21, 2014, officers assigned to District B-3 (Mattapan) responded to a radio call for a person stabbed in the area of 5 Ames Street in Dorchester.

On arrival, officers observed the male victim lying on the ground outside of the above location suffering from apparent stab wounds. The victim was transported to Boston Medical Center where he was later pronounced deceased.
