ONE LESS GUN: At about 12:56 AM on Thursday January 10, 2019, officers assigned to District B-3 (Mattapan) made onsite firearm arrest while conducting a traffic stop in the area of 776 Washington Street in Dorchester. The officers had stopped a vehicle with a malfunctioning brake light and were approaching to speak with the operator when the front seat passenger, later identified as Demitrius Woodson, 22, of Cambridge, suddenly reached forward and concealed an unknown object under the seat. Officers called for additional units after observing both the operator and the passenger behaving in a nervous fashion. Officers removed both parties and conducted a pat frisk of both parties and the vehicle which led to the recovery of a loaded 9mm Ruger P89 handgun from underneath the front passenger’s side seat. The suspect was then placed in custody without incident. The operator was issued a written warning for the equipment violation and released from the scene. The suspect will appear in Dorchester District Court on charges of Unlawful Possession of a Firearm (2nd and Subsequent), Unlawful Possession of Ammunition Carrying a Loaded Firearm and Possession of a Large Capacity Feeding Device.
