Armed Robbery SuspectsLast night, July 22, 2008, around 11:05pm, officers from District A-1 (Downtown Boston) responded to the area of LaGrange and Tamworth Streets for a robbery in progress. While en route, officers were advised that the suspects had fled down Boylston St. toward Washington Street. Officers arrived on scene and with the assistance of the victims canvassed the area for the suspects. An additional patrol unit in the area observed two individuals running on Washington St. toward Hayward Street. Officers’ interest was drawn to these individuals based on the recent broadcast of the robbery and the hurried manner in which they were running. Officers began to follow these two fleeing individuals while broadcasting their location and direction to the unit accompanied by the victims. Units, including the cruiser with the victims, converged on the fleeing individuals and immediately upon seeing one of the suspects immediately yelled, “He’s the one who robbed me!” Officers immediately exited their cruisers and detained both suspects at which time a witness to the robbery also positively identified the suspects. Officers recovered a sum of money along with a cell phone that was stolen from the victim from one of the two suspects. The other suspect was identified as having struck the victim during the robbery. The suspects, Dana Richardson, 39, of Boston and Jason M. Ventolieri, 31, of Tewksbury were arrested and charged with Unarmed Robbery and Assault and Battery by Means of a Dangerous Weapon. Ongoing Efforts to Curtail Prostitution on Dorchester Ave. Lands Two in Jail Early this morning around 1:00am, officers from District C-11 (Dorchester) conducted an operation intended to discourage and discontinue prostitution in the Dorchester Ave. area. The issue of prostitution in this area has become an increasing concern to community members. In response to resident concerns, officers conducted this operation. During this operation, officers in an unmarked cruiser picked up prostitutes in the area of Dorchester Ave. and after the prostitutes negotiated a fee for sexual services, they were placed under arrest. Suspects, Zakia Mikell, 29, of Dorchester and Marsha A. Wyrick, 38, of Boston were arrested during two separate incidents and charged with Prostitution-Soliciting Sex for a Fee. Vandalism Lands Two in Jail At approximately 2:25am this morning, officers working in an unmarked cruiser in the area of Cambridge St. near the I-90 footbridge were flagged down by a passerby who alerted them to several individuals on the footbridge destroying the overhead lights. Officers immediately responded to the area and there observed two males jumping up and breaking the lights on the footbridge with an unknown object. Officers immediately exited their cruiser, identified themselves as Boston Police officers and confronted the individuals about their actions. Two of the three individuals admitted that they indeed had been destroying the lights on the footbridge. The suspects, James P. Forde, 21, and Gerard Maher, 21 both of Brighton were arrested and charged with Malicious destruction of Property, and Disorderly Conduct.
