Armed Robbery Suspect Arrested with Stolen GoodsYesterday afternoon around 2:30PM, officers and detectives from District C-11 (Dorchester) arrested suspect, Jumaane Samuel, 24, of Dorchester and charged him with Unlawful Carrying of a Loaded Firearm, Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Carrying of a Large Capacity Firearm, Unlawful Possession of a Large Capacity Feeding Device, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, Trespassing, Receiving Stolen Property, Assault and Battery on a Police Officer, Receiving Stolen Property, and Unlicensed Operation of a Motor Vehicle. The arrest of the suspect came about when detectives traveling in the area of Bowdoin St. and Geneva Ave. observed the suspect riding a bright yellow scooter. Officers aware that an armed robbery had taken place on 4/26/09 and that the victim had been robbed of a bright yellow scooter, two cell phones and US currency decided to further investigate. In addition, the detectives were aware that one of the possible suspects of the armed robbery lived in the vicinity of where they observed the suspect riding the scooter. Officers followed the scooter and as they did so, the suspect pulled into the driveway of the address of one of the possible robbery suspects. Officers approached the suspect in the driveway and there noted also that the suspect matched the description of the possible suspect, a short, stocky black male with a scar on the cheek. Officers approached the suspect and asked him for paperwork for the scooter and identification. Officers then attempted to conduct a pat frisk of the suspect in light of the fact that he was a suspect of an armed robbery in which a gum had been used. While attempting to conduct a pat frisk of the suspect, he pushed a detective and fled the scene. A lengthy foot pursuit ensued during which the suspect jumped over fences followed by detectives and officers. During the pursuit, officers observed the suspect drop a firearm and pick it up and continue running from officers. As officers continued to pursue and neared capturing him, the suspect was observed throwing a firearm into an adjoining yard. The suspect was caught shortly after discarding the firearm. The suspect was placed in custody and transported to the district station for booking. After the suspect was transported, a witness was located who also reported observing the suspect running with a gun and discarding the gun, as officers got closer to apprehending him. The victim of the robbery was then notified and responded and positively identified the scooter as the one that was stolen from him along with a cell phone found on the suspect. Shooting Incident Results in One Suspect Being Arrested Yesterday afternoon around 4:04PM, officers from District D-4 (South End) responded to 133 Northampton St. for a person shot. On arrival, officers located a victim standing in the doorway of 133 Northampton St. suffering from a gunshot wound. The victim was transported to Boston Medical Center via ambulance with non-life threatening injuries. At the scene, officers and detectives spoke to several witnesses who reported that they observed an unidentified black male running on foot down Northampton St shortly after the shooting. The suspect then ran into a newer dark colored Toyota Camry occupied by another male in the driver’s seat which then fled the scene. Witnesses also provided detectives and officers with a registration for the car that the suspect ran to after the shooting. Pursuant to the information gathered at the scene of the shooting, detectives from District D-4 detectives notified the registered owner of the car and learned that her boyfriend had been the person who had her car during the shooting incident. The registered owner’s boyfriend was then found and interviewed regarding the incident. After the interview, the owner’s boyfriend admitted to being the only person who had control of the car. In light of the evidence gathered and the fact that the car was positively identified as being at the scene, suspect, Jose O. Ortiz, 18, of Lawrence was arrested and charged with Accessory After the Fact: Assault with Intent to Kill. Car Theft Suspect Caught in the Act This morning around 2:49AM, officers from District A-1 (Downtown Boston and North End) responded to 275 Tremont St. for an investigate person call. On arrival, officers spoke to a victim who reported that he was at work when he was informed that an unknown person was breaking into his car that was parked in the rear of 275 Tremont Street. The victim reported that he immediately ran to his car and observed a suspect sitting inside his car in the driver’s seat. The victim ordered the suspect to open the car door but the suspect initially refused. Finally the suspect opened the door and was detained by the victim until officers arrived at the scene. The suspect, Keith C. Placko, 23, of Fairfield, 23, of Fairfield, CT was arrested and charged with Attempted Auto Theft.
