Four Arrested for Firearm Possession

Last night around 9:07AM, officers from District B-3 (Dorchester) arrested suspects, Nahshon L. Minor, 24, of Dorchester, Keenan T. Totter, 18, of Mattapan, Levar L. Godfrey, 24, of Dorchester and Tevin L. Williams, 17, of Dorchester and charged them with Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, Possession of a Loaded Firearm, and Possession of a High Capacity Feeding Device.

Officers were on patrol in the area of Bernard, Harvard and Gleeson Streets due to recent firearm activity when they observed a car traveling On Harvard St. toward Talbot Ave. with defective equipment. Officers attempted to catch up to the car with the defective equipment in order to conduct a traffic stop near the intersection of Harvard and Helen Streets. There, the car abruptly sped up and turned onto Helen St. and as they did so the officers heard a metal object striking and skipping along the ground to the right of the cruiser. It should be noted that there were no other cars or pedestrians on the street at the time. The car continued to accelerate and finally stopped at the intersection of Talbot Ave.  and Kerwin Street.

At the traffic stop, officers approached the car and observed that it was occupied by the four suspects. While speaking to the occupants of the car, officers observed a magazine to a firearm at the foot of the rear passenger. While stopped with the car, other officers returned to the location where they had heard the sound of metal striking the street and there found a firearm with fresh scuff and scratch marks. A thermal imager was used on the firearm and it obtained a heat signature indicative of the fact that the gun had not been outside for a long time. It was also determined that the magazine found in the car matched the make and model of the gun along with the ammunition caliber found in the magazine.

Based on evidence located in the suspect’s car and the location of the recovered firearm, all four suspects were arrested and charged with the above offenses.
