Boston Police Respond to Domestic Incident at 21 Gavin Way

Yesterday, Monday, May 25, 2010 around 4:44PM, officers from District C-6 (South Boston) responded to 21 Gavin Way for a person stabbed.

On arrival, officers observed a 32 year old female victim being treated by Boston EMS for several stab wounds. The victim was transported to Boston Medical Center via ambulance for further treatment and deemed in critical condition. On scene, officers discovered that the victim had suffered her injuries as a result of a domestic situation in which the male suspect had set the victim’s apartment on fire after stabbing her. Numerous attempts were made by officers to enter the apartment and place the suspect in custody but due to heavy smoke and fire, officers were unable to breach the apartment. Boston Fire responded and extinguished the fire after which the suspect fled to a third floor apartment.

The suspect, after running to the third floor apartment and securing the doors, appeared on a balcony where numerous attempts were made to talk to him. While in the course of attempting to talk to the suspect, he suddenly jumped from the balcony consequently suffering critical injuries. The suspect, a 42 year old man, was transported to the hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced.
