Police Arrest Suspect Playing ‘Hide and Seek’ after Breaking and Entering a Market in Boston

At about 5:55am on Sunday October 27, 2013 Officers from District D-4(South End) responded to a radio call for a Breaking and Entering in progress at 21 Massachusetts Avenue (Quality Mart) Boston.

Upon arrival the officers observed the front door was completely smashed and broken glass all over the ground. The officers began to search the store to see if anyone was still inside and noticed a chair, tucked in the corner behind the register slightly move. The officers discovered a male suspect hiding in the corner behind the chair. Michael Galloway, 42, of Milton was then placed under arrest.

The officers recovered a pair of gloves, a black and yellow handled screw driver and a black bag, from the chair the suspect was hiding behind, along with two 1.75 liter bottles of gray goose, 27 boxes of Newport cigarettes and 3 men’s Speed Stick deodorant sticks.

A clerk who arrived to open the store, reported to officer lottery tickets, rolled coins, an orange coin drawer, and money from the cash registers were missing.

While at the station officers noticed the suspect was in possession of a set of car keys belonging to a Honda. The officers still on scene observed a gray 2008 Honda Accord illegally parked in front of a fire hydrant, at the corner of Massachusetts Avenue and Beacon Street. Further investigation revealed clearly visible  through the window of the motor vehicle, a brown box containing an orange container and a white trash bag full of scratch tickets.

Galloway was charged with Breaking and Entering a Building or Ship; Intent to Commit a Felony and Possession of Burglarious Tools.  All the store merchandise was returned.  Officers seized the screw driver and gloves as evidence.
