Daily Dose of Great Police Work: Police Arrest One for Breaking and Entering of a Motor Vehicle


At about 5:08 PM, Sunday, December 29, 2013, officers from District B-2 (Roxbury) responded to a radio call for Breaking and Entering of a Motor Vehicle in the area of 12 Eldora Street in Roxbury.

While en route, officers observed an individual matching the description of the suspect wanted for attempting to break into multiple motor vehicles. As officer’s approached the suspect to speak with him, the suspect fled on foot. After a brief struggle, officers were able to handcuff the suspect. The suspect stated that he had attempted to break into approximately 30 vehicles, but had only gained access to one vehicle.

Upon further investigation, officers spoke to a female victim who stated that she had observed a Hispanic male wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt and a blue of black backpack, who was attempting to enter multiple vehicles by pulling on the door handles. The female victim stated that she had called 911 and informed her husband, the male victim. The male victim attempted to confront the suspect, but upon seeing the male victim, the suspect fled. The victim gave chase, to no avail.

Arrested was Dariberto Martinez, 29, of Roxbury. Martinez is charged with Breaking and Entering of a Motor Vehicle, Assault and Battery on a Police Officer (No Injuries), and Resisting Arrest.
