Seventeen Year Old Suspect Charged with Firearm Possession


At about 12:30 PM, Tuesday, June 18th, 2013, a lieutenant detective from district E-18 (Hyde Park) was conducting a walk and talk, in the area of Wood Avenue and River Street.

While on patrol, in the area of recent firearm violence which left two persons injured, the lieutenant detective observed four men engaged in a verbal altercation. One pair of suspects suddenly turned and ran toward Wood Avenue, the other two followed.

The lieutenant detective observed one of the males grabbing at his waistband and conducted a field stop. During a pat frisk, one of the males was found to have a loaded firearm on his person.

Shawn Antony Watt, 17, of Hyde Park is charged with Unlawful Possession of Firearm and Unlawful Possession of Ammunition.
