Daily Dose of Great Police Work: Combating Gun Violence on District D-4 in the South End

Combatting Gun Violence: At about 5:00pm, on Friday, January 24, 2014, officers from District D-4 (South End) received information relative to an individual who was seen driving around and displaying a loaded firearm in the area of Kendall Street. A search of the area enabled officers to locate the suspect’s motor vehicle travelling in the area of Shawmut Ave & Washington Street. Upon seeing the car, officers conducted a motor vehicle stop after observing the operator fail to stop for a posted stop sign. While approaching the car, officers observed – in plain view – a black colored semi-automatic firearm lying on the floor mat at the feet of the operator. Upon seeing the gun, officers immediately instructed the operator to exit the vehicle. With the suspect out of the car, officers recovered and took possession of the loaded firearm.

Officers arrested a 28 year-old male from Boston and charged him with the Unlawful Possession of a Loaded Firearm and Possession with Intent to Distribute a Class D Drug.
