Daily Dose of Great Police Work: Police Arrest One for Robbery in the area of 546 Tremont St.


At about 8:55 AM, Monday, January 06, 2014, officers from District D-4 (South End) responded to a radio call for a Robbery in Progress in the area of 546 Tremont Street in the South End.

On arrival, officers spoke with the victim who stated that an unknown male suspect had followed her into the store. When the victim removed her handbag and her coat, she had observed the suspect remove an item from her handbag. When the victim confronted the suspect, a struggle ensued during which, the suspect became enraged and broke out a glass window in an attempt to escape.

Upon further investigation, officers arrived at a local hospital and observed an individual matching the description of the suspect. The suspect was positively identified.

Arrested was Amos Coakley, 55, of Boston. Coakley is charged with Unarmed Robbery, Assault and Battery, and Destruction or Injury of Personal Property.
