Daily Dose of Great Police Work: Suspect Rams Cruiser and Injures Officers Before being Arrested in Dorchester

At about 1:00 AM on Saturday, officers from District C-11 (Dorchester) made an arrest area of Harvard Street and Washington Street in Dorchester.

While assisting another unit in efforts to locate a motor vehicle which had refused to submit to a traffic stop in the area of the above location, officers observed a white SUV matching the description of the suspect’s vehicle. As officers continued their patrol, the suspect vehicle accelerated directly towards the officers. At this time, the officers reversed the direction of their department issued motor vehicle in an attempt to avoid being struck. The suspect’s vehicle then struck the officers’ vehicle causing injury to both officers as well as damaging their vehicle. The suspect then fled from the scene of the accident toward School Street. The injured officers activated their emergency equipment (lights and sirens) and pursued the suspect. The suspect eventually fled from his vehicle upon striking a parked vehicle in the area of Wayne Street and Maple Street. The suspect was then apprehended following a foot pursuit.  Officers were able to recover illegal narcotics within the vehicle (which was a leased motor vehicle in which the suspect was not listed on the lease agreement) which was subsequently towed.

Officers arrested 22-year-old Gregory Hampton-Boyd of Lynn. Hampton-Boyd is charged with Assault and Battery on a Police Officer (with Injuries), Failure to Stop for a Police Officer, Possession with Intent to Distribute Class D Drugs, and Operating to Endanger. The suspect was also issued multiple citations.
