At about 12:52 AM on Tuesday, November 4, 2014, officers from District B-2 (Roxbury) made an onsite arrest and recovered an illegal firearm in the area of 616 Dudley Street in Roxbury.
While on patrol, officers responded to the area of the above location for a report of multiple armed gang members inside of the residence. Officers were eventually let into the apartment by an unknown female who stated that she was by herself and that nobody else was present within the residence. Upon entering the apartment with the female's consent, officers were alerted to a black male who quickly fled into another room upon seeing officers. Officers immediately pursued the male into the bedroom where he was hiding behind a dresser. As officers entered the room, they observed another male lying on a mattress with both of his hands concealed (his left hand was underneath him and his right hand was in between the mattress and the wall). At this time, officers asked the male to show his hands to which he did not immediately comply. Officers fearing that the male could possibly be in possession of a firearm, again asked the male to get off the bed and show his hands, to which he eventually did. Officers searched the area in which the male had been lying and were able to recover a silver Smith & Wesson .357 Magnum revolver loaded with 6 rounds of live ammunition. The male was placed under arrest.
Officers arrested 18-year-old Armany Veras of South Boston and charged him with Unlawful Possession of a Firearm.
