Daily Dose of Great Police Work: BPD Officers Arrest One for Unarmed Robbery in the area of 541 Shawmut Ave


At about 3:01 AM, Thursday, February 20, 2014 officers from District D-4 (South End) responded to a radio call for an attempted robbery in the area of 541 Shawmut Avenue in the South End.

On arrival, officers were met by the victim who stated that the suspect was running towards Mass Ave. The officer observed the individual matching the description of the suspect running upon seeing police. Following a brief foot chase, officers were able to apprehend the suspect.

When officers met the victim at the scene of the incident, she was visibly shaken. The victim stated that the suspect approached her while she was walking home as she attempted to walk past the suspect, the suspect punched the victim in the face with a closed fist. Upon punching the victim, the suspect then unsuccessfully attempted to grab the victim’s purse. The suspect was positively identified.

Arrested was a 28 year-old male from Boston. The male is charged with Unarmed Robbery and Assault and Battery.
