Daily Dose of Great Police Work: Officers Arrest Three for Receiving a Stolen Motor Vehicle in South Boston


At about 12:28 PM, Thursday, March 13, 2014,  officers assigned to District C-6 (South Boston) made an onsite arrest of three individuals in the area of 16 Preble Street in South Boston.

 While en route to a 911 call in the area of 3 Bakers Court, officers were traveling in their marked department cruiser with emergency equipment (lights and sirens) activated.  As they entered a rotary, they observed a vehicle blatantly disregard their emergency lights and siren.  Officers attempted to conduct a stop of this motor vehicle and were again ignored by the operator, who refused to pull to the right and stop.  When officers queried the vehicle's registration, they discovered that the vehicle had been reported stolen. Officers observed the vehicle stopped at a red light in the area of 16 Preble St. Upon seeing officers, the operator attempted to drive away but was unable to do so as the vehicle was blocked in. As officers approached the vehicle on foot, two individuals fled the scene, while officers were able to detain the three suspects remaining in the vehicle.

Arrested were David Avalo, 18, of Roxbury, a 16-year-old juvenile of Roxbury, and a 16-year-old juvenile of Arlington. Avalo is charged with Receiving a Stolen Motor Vehicle, while both juveniles are charged with Delinquent to Wit: Receiving a Stolen Motor Vehicle. Further investigation revealed active warrants for the arrest of the Arlington juvenile.
