BPD in the News: BPD’s Sergeant Shawn Burns Runs His First Boston Marathon for a Good Cause

Thank you to Mark Burridge of WickedLocal.com for his coverage of Boston Police Department Sergeant Shawn Burns. Sergeant Burns is a supervisor in District D-14 (Allston/Brighton) and running his first Boston Marathon for a very good cause. While working in the area of the finish line during last year’s tragic Marathon Bombings, Sgt. Burns leapt into action to assist one of the victims, Sydney Corcoran. The sergeant felt connected with Sydney and her mother, Celeste, who lost both her legs in the blast. So this year, Sgt. Burns will not only run for the charity Cops for Kids with Cancer, but also for Team Corcoran to raise money to pay for Sydney’s mother’s prostheses. Go Sgt. Burns and Team Corcoran!
