At approximately 1:34pm on Monday, April 28 2014, officers from the citywide Drug Control Unit
were conducting an investigation on Warren Street in Roxbury (Area B2) and observed a suspect wearing a white multicolored hooded sweatshirt, white jeans and carrying a camouflage backpack on his back enter a public establishment at 301 Warren Street. Officers entered 301 Warren Street to conduct a threshold inquiry. When the suspect observed officers enter, he immediately turned to his left and attempted to walk towards the opposite door away from officers. Simultaneously, officers entered from the other side. Officers attempted to conduct a threshold inquiry of the suspect and he attempted to flee. After a brief struggle, the suspect was successfully placed into handcuffs. Officers then conducted a pat frisk of the suspect and his backpack. A silver colored firearm was recovered loaded with 12 live rounds of ammunition in the magazine.
Ricky Norwood, 33, of Boston was arrested for Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, Possession of a Large Capacity Feeding Device, Carrying a Loaded Firearm and Armed Career Criminal Level II based on prior firearm arrests. He is expected to be arraigned in Roxbury District Court.
