Daily Dose of Great Police Work: Police Arrest Unruly Fan for Assault and Battery on a Police Officer at Fenway Park

At about 8:20 PM, Tuesday, April 8, 2014, an officer working a paid detail made an onsite arrest in the area of 4 Yawkey Way (Fenway Park).

While working a paid detail, an officer was alerted by park security of a male individual attempting re-enter the park at Gate A. As the officer approached, he was notified that the male had been ejected from the park due to his disorderly behavior. The officer spoke to the male and advised him numerous times that he would have to leave the area, as the park security had denied him re-entry. The male suspect continued to disregard the officer’s requests to leave the area. The suspect became increasingly irritable and verbally belligerent. As the suspect conitnued yelling and cursing at the officer, a crowd gathered forcing the the officer to again ask the suspect to control his behavior or face arrest. At this time, the suspect lunged at the officer and pushed him with both hands. The officer notified the suspect that he would be placed under arrest for assaulting a police officer. As the officer attempted to place the suspect in handcuffs, the suspect violently resisted.  A brief struggle ensued in which the suspect was arrested and placed in custody.

Police arrested a 19 year-old male of Boston and charged him with Assault and Battery on a Police Officer, Resisting Arrest and Disorderly Conduct.
