WHO: Mayor Martin J. Walsh, Police Commissioner William B. Evans, Superintendent-in-Chief William G. Gross, members of the Boston Police Department Command Staff, Boston Police Academy Staff, graduating police recruits, elected officials, local, state, & federal law enforcement partners, family, and friends.

WHAT: During this ceremony, 67 police recruits will graduate from the Boston Police Academy and be sworn in as police officers.

WHERE: Roxbury Community College Media Arts Center

***Note: For the first time in the history of the department, the Class President Megan Walsh, Vice President Allison Gunther, and Commander Superintendent Lisa Holmes of the Boston Police Academy are all female. 

Milton Recruit Officer Ryan O'Rourke is the son of Boston Police Superintendent Bernard O'Rourke.

Boston Recruit Officer Franklin Ortiz decision to become a police officer was inspired by Sergeant Detective Thomas O'Leary and Sergeant Detective Paul McLaughlin.
