Daily Dose of Great Police Work: Quick Response Enables BPD Officers to Round Up Nine Juveniles Responsible for an Unarmed Robbery in Dorchester


At about 9:35 PM on Monday, July 7, 2014, officers from District B-3 (Mattapan) responded to a radio call for a larceny report in the area of Erie Street and Washington Street in Dorchester.

On arrival, officers spoke to the female victim who stated that she and her male friend were waiting for their bus connection when she was attacked by a young female suspect. The female suspect kicked the victim, knocking her into a fence. When the victim attempted to stand up, she was surrounded by a group of approximately 10-15 individuals. At this time, the victim was assaulted again by the female suspect. At this time, a male suspect grabbed her purse and stole several items. The male victim, in an attempt to aid the female victim, intervened allowing the female victim to seek safety at a local market and call police. At this time, the group focused their attention on the male victim, assaulting him as well. Officers quick arrival on scene allowed for the arrests of nine juvenile suspects both male and female. During the booking process, one of the female suspects spat in the face of officers.

Officers arrested nine juveniles, ages 13-16 with charges including Armed Robbery, Unarmed Robbery, A&B by means of a Dangerous Weapon, A&B on a Police Officer with Injuries, and Disorderly Person.
