Daily Dose of Great Police Work: Officers Arrest One for Armed Robbery in Charlestown


At about 5:53 PM on Saturday, August 9, 2014, officers from District A-1 (Downtown) responded to a radio call for an armed robbery in the area of 140 Main Street in Charlestown. 

On arrival, officers were directed to a liquor store to apprehend a suspect involved in a prior robbery at a Tedeschi’s. As officers entered the liquor store, they observed several people, including the suspect, in an altercation at the front counter. Further investigation revealed that the suspect had robbed the Tedeschi’s at gunpoint and then attempted to rob the liquor store. Officers spoke to the victim who stated that the suspect walked up to the counter, produced a black handgun, and pointed it in her face. The victim then grabbed the firearm and struggled with the suspect to remove the firearm from his possession. The victim called for help from her fellow employees who assisted, successfully taking possession of the firearm. Officers observed a black plastic bag with an undisclosed amount of US Currency as well as a black .117 caliber BB/pellet gun. 

Officers arrested 49-year-old Raymond Santos of Boston and charged him with Armed Assault with Intent to Rob (Gun), Assault by Means of a Dangerous Weapon (Gun), and Armed Robbery.
