Daily Dose of Great Police Work: New York Fugitive from Justice Captured in Boston

At about 9:00 AM on Thursday, January 29, 2015, members of the Boston Police Department Fugitive Unit, New York Police Department Homicide Unit, US Marshals HIDTA Task Force (Mass), New York/New Jersey Regional Task Force, and U.S. Marshal TOG placed wanted fugitive 32-year-old Michael Blackwood under arrest in the area of 9 Draper Street in Dorchester.

When officers approached the residence and announced their presence, the suspect attempted to escape through the rear door. The officers quickly apprehended the suspect after a brief struggle. The suspect, Blackwood, was wanted out of the Bronx (NY) Supreme Court for outstanding warrants for firearm-related offenses and a violation of parole. Blackwood was charged with being a Fugitive from Justice and will be extradited back to New York City.

This incident is a fine example of multi-jurisdictional cooperation between the Boston Police, U.S. Marshals, and N.Y.P.D. Excellent teamwork and communication made for the safe arrest of a very dangerous and violent individual.
